Azula - Keel Bellied Lizard
Azula the Keel Bellied Lizard is our first lacertid to ever come into the sanctuary, as her own group of lizards, we have learned a lot from watching how she interacts with the world around her. She is truly a remarkable lizard!

Azula was given to the sanctuary in July of 2024 where she became one of the most unique and beautiful animals that we have had the pleasure of working with. With her giant tail and bright coloration, she is sure to stand out in her jungly habitat.
She is named because of her bluish pigmentation and her contrast to the world around her. Surprisingly for a lizard with 70% of her length being tail, she can still drop it if she is startled! While the risk is low, due to this and her personality, we like to leave her alone as a look-but-don't-touch animal.
As an animal that is constantly curious, and strikingly beautiful, Azula is sure to capture the imagination of many visitors while she explores her environment. If you too appreciate your distance from others and tend to explore the world on your own time, you’re sure to love Azula.
