Mold - Leachianus Gecko
Mold the Leachianus Gecko is one of the largest species of gecko in the world. As babies, they are nearly 4 inches long at birth, but as adults they get to a huge 17 inches long! They are from the same island group as Crested Geckos, and even have been known to make a snack out of them on occasion!

Mold joined the Sanctuary in March of 2024 and quickly became a favorite of our visitors. For her size and species, many would assume that she wouldn’t put up with people very well, but she has quickly taken to our keepers and is no stranger to meeting the public.
Mold is named due to her dark green pigmentation and her statuesque nature. When held, she often curls around your hand and a common joke is that she looks like a large moldy croissant. While we initially thought about naming her after a specific type of mold, we decided that because we’d called her Mold for so long, the name was a good fit for her!
Moldy geckos or not, Mold is sure to delight many who meet her either through her personality or her sheer size! Mold is sure to make a great ambassador for people who love geckos as a whole!
